A variation on my original idea, Unlock the Music [link]
I created a second logo because, upon returning to ClickTheVote.org, I found their mission statement had changed somewhat since last I had visited.
It didn't really suprise me, and I was more than ready to try a new idea. I considered what would best symbolically represent a "digital citizen" and I felt that a mouse, the tool a user uses to reach inside their computer, would be an excellent icon for the citizens of cyberspace.
Plus I thought it would look cooler than, say, a cursor.
Like in my Unlock the Music logo, the shiney new key (representing the ideals of ClickTheVote) continues to unlock the rusted, old-fashioned lock (old, outdated laws and standards), freeing, in this case, the mouse.
This entire image was created in Jasc's Paint Shop Pro 7. The key is drawn from a photo, the lock is of my own design, and the mouse was created from Eyes On Design's [link] mouse tutorial (which is for Photoshop but which I managed to PSP-ize )
I've included several formats of this image in a .ZIP file here, including PSP, Photoshop, GIF, JPEG, TIF, BMP and PNG. Excluding this preview image, they are all on white or transparent backgrounds. There are several versions with no shadow for easier editing.
There is also a second version included in the zip that is a black and white silhouette, with white outlining all three forms, which looks great at small sizes and is very versitile.
So, to wrap things up: very representative of the issues concerning CTV, comes with a cool second version, comes in lots of formats for ease of use, and, quite frankly, I think it just looks cool.
UPDATED:
Well, first and most obvious, if you saw the original preview, is that there is a new preview image. I changed it because I got comments saying that my logo didn't look much like a logo... and I wanted to display my logo-fied varriation.
Second, I added two new versions of my logo-fied version, one in Photoshop format and one in Paint Shop Pro format. This will allow for easier editing because both formats allow multi-opacity transparency.
*is chuffed, takes prize for best commenter and buffs nails on shirt....celebrity style* thankies so much! yippee!!...but you knoooow...I really only comment the way i do because

You're the second person to say it doesn't look like a logo. I guess I should have made my description shorter! No one so far has noticed that I said I included a simplified "logo-fied" version in the ZIP file.
Now I know I need to change the preview. I don't want the to miss that!
very nice, a little much for a logo I think.... but then website logo's and company logos are generally different things. I'm a big fan of simplistic and graphic but that is just me,
I don't like the lettering too much, I think it takes away from the image, the colours etc, but I'm also aware of the fact that that won't be there in the finished version. It looks good, I don't think I'd have made the button blue though, its the only blue thing in the image, maybe green or golden? just to keep some consistency? nit picky.
Overall I think this image is very very well done. Kudos!
Well thank you. I'm glad you liked it. As for what you said about the imperfections, I except for the watermark, I've in fact addressed those problems.
As I said in my description, a simplified version is included in the ZIP file. I may change the preview image to reflect that.
I chose turquoise for the button very carefully. In my original version, the musical note (which is where the mouse is in this one) is also turquoise. I chose it because I wanted an eye-catching and highly contrasting color to the color of the lock. It's intended to make it stand out... if I chose a matching color I felt it would blend in too much. Of course, the leather background will be gone when it's put on the website, so I didn't take that into account.
Thanks for the suggestion, though, I know where you're coming from. I did try something, with both the original musical note and with the mouse button, like what you described, but the effect was more bland than one might expect.
As for my watermark... you're right, it's loud. I just noticed that the layer blend mode "Differnce" created the strange rainbow effect and I couldn't resist using it.
Thanks for your detailed comments! Much more comprehensive than that which I usually get! I appreciate it.
